Jarvis Deon Massey, 42 of Charlotte, entered into Heavenly rest on June 26, 2021. He was the only child, was born on February 10, 1979 to Brenda Massey and Maurice Mackey. Deon received his education in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School system and was employed by Genpak located in Charlotte, NC.
Deon loved his mama and the world knew it. You could hear it in his voice whenever he said "my mama" like he had the best one in the world. And she loved him with all her heart. Jerry "Bobo" Young had a place in Deon's heart that can't be put into words and he never doubted the unwavering love and commitment that Bobo had for him.
To say that Deon loved his children is an understatement. Somehow they were a part of nearly every conversation that he would have with you. He was always thinking about how to be a better father, how to make a way, how to reach a goal in his life in order to make things easier for them. It was clear to all that his priority was being a father and he always strived to be better than the day before. Deon had a love for his family that ran deep and a heart as big as all outdoors. He loved hard and never missed an opportunity to say it either in words or with his legendary hugs that will be missed by all of us.
He would wrap his arms around you in way that let you know he really loved you no matter what. He believed in family and made sure we all knew it which made us believe a little more. He was always talking about his Grandma and putting flowers on her grave just because she was on his mind. He had a special love for our Aunt Ro and made sure we all knew it. He would send unexpected text messages that always ended with "I love you." Those will forever be treasured.
He was always thinking and it wasn't unusual for him to reach out to an uncle or auntie to share his heart, his struggles, his goals and his dreams. He worked hard and dreamed big, always on the move and planning for the next steps. He had a zeal for moving up in this life that kept him on his toes. Recently, he shared with family that he was feeling so connected to God and only wanted peace and happiness in his life. He was like a man on a mission in his desire to have joy that could only come from a relationship with his Heavenly Father and the change could be seen in him.
Deon was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Priscilla Massey, Lily Mackey, and Minnie Young, and aunt, Jarrisha Mackey.
He will be truly missed by his mother, Brenda Massey, bonus dad, Jerry Young, and father, Maurice Mackey; his daughters, Teaira Massey, Teyonce Massey, Rheign Worthy; his sons, Jamauri Carroll, Jarquez Massey, Isaiah Massey-Brown and Deandre Massey-Brown; his grandsons, D'Mire Ingram and Jamauri Carroll Jr; uncles, Charles Massey, Vodrian Massey (Michelle), Curtis Mackey and aunts, Teresa Potts, Melissa Massey Harris (Cleveland), Lafonda Jackson (Terry) and Crystal Mackey; and his beloved first cousins as well as a host of loving relatives and friends, including his great-aunts, Roberta Thompson and Veverly Crawford.
