Jermaine Maurello Shuler was born on November 23, 1973 to Katherine Shuler and Leon Desaussure in Charleston South Carolina. In 1976, he was cared for by Joseph and Alice Seabrook who assumed a parental role in his life. They raised him as military kid who had the privilege of residing on multiple United States Air Force bases around the country. Joseph taught Jermaine the values of duty, honor and dedication while introducing him to his first love baseball. In 1985 he reconnected with his mother and grandparents William and Ernestine Shuler, where he was also able to become a significant part of his little sister Sonya's life. Every summer Jermaine would enjoy spending time with all of his cousins especially Eric Harrison.
During high school Jermaine was a Varsity Athlete where he was named High School All State. He won multiple awards and was recognized by the television and newspaper reporters consistently during baseball season. His natural born leadership ability was evident both on and off the field. As top national baseball recruit and a dedicated team member Jermaine insisted that he and his life-long friend and close teammate, Johnny Cribb be recruited as a package deal. Upon graduation from Garrett High School in 1990, Jermaine was recruited to play baseball for The Citadel Military College of South Carolina. During his tenure at The Citadel, the team made it to the Southern Regional Championship in 1993 where he was named MVP. In 1994 he graduated with a degree in Business Administration.
Jermaine would then move to Atlanta, Georgia where he would begin his career in Financial Auditing with Ford Motor Company. In 1995 he was part of a Leadership Development Program which led to a transition to Charlotte, North Carolina. In continuation of his career trajectory he would begin working as a Regional Business Development Manager for Dealers Finance Inc. for over 14 years. While committed to an established professional life and juggling fatherhood, Jermaine also cared for his mother Katherine and brother Trevor. Jermaine met Debra Ann Bailey and married on April 9th, 2005. Through their union daughter Makaila Baylee Shuler was born on April 30, 2007. As a devoted father Jermaine was proud to continue his baseball legacy through son, Jace William Shuler born August 4, 2010. He would eventually coach his son's little league baseball team, Park Sharon Nationals and the team went on to win the 2019 Top Gun Tournament in South Carolina.
Jermaine leaves behind two children, daughter Makaila Baylee Shuler (13) and son Jace William Shuler (10); Parents, Katherine Shuler (Mother), Joseph Seabrook (Dad) and Nellis Seabrook (Mami). He is also survived by; Brothers Vernard Seabrook, Trevor Shuler, Moises Hernandez Watson and Joseph E. Seabrook (Christina); Sisters Dr. Sonya Shuler-Okoli (Dr. Ogechukwu "Charles") and Ethel N. Seabrook Hennessy (James); Nieces Adaora Kathryn, Amara Rose Okoli and Sarah Hennessey; Nephews Ethan E. Seabrook and Arinzechukwu "Ari" William Okoli with a host of other relatives and loving friends. Jermaine is now home with the Lord to join two of the most important people in his life, grandparents William and Ernestine Shuler.
