Jerry Lee Black, 71, of Charlotte, went to be with the Lord on October 12, 2022.
Jerry was born October 3, 1951, in Cleveland County (Kings Mountain), NC, the son of the late Jobe Black and Katie Hamrick. He was an only child.
Jerry attended Kings Mountain Schools. After graduation, he attended the University of Miami for two years. In the late 1970s he served in the United States Army. He was stationed at Ft. Dix, New Jersey. He was stationed at Ft. Dix, New Jersey. He was a truck driver for many years. In the 1990s, he retired from Coca Cola Bottling Co.
He enjoyed cooking, especially baking. He loved playing cards, watching television, and working on his computer. Most of all, he loved the Lord. During his youth, Jerry and his family attended Long Branch Baptist Church in Grover, NC. After moving to Charlotte, he became a member of Hidden Manna ECC. In 2009, Jerry became a devoted, dedicated member of Macedonia Baptist Church at 1300 Hateras Avenue, where he served faithfully in several ministries: Prayer Warriors, Phone Ministry, Deacons Family Ministry, Men of Zion, Crown & Glory, Outreach Men's Choir, Christian Education-Marriage Class. Jerry LOVED his Bishop and his Pastor.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Monica Black; his daughter, Cameo Lee Black of New Jersey; stepdaughter LaShone Curry of Charlotte, NC; stepson Emmanuel Gleaton of Charlotte, NC; grandsons Joshua Bowman of Charlotte, NC, Jufon Bell of New Jersey, and Patrick and Jaheim Curry of Charlotte, NC; granddaughter, Su' Nija Vaughn of New Jersey; goddaughter, Pageant Simone' Holloway; godson, Michael Leeth; 2 precious aunts, Rev. Rebecca Bell and Isabell Patterson; along with a host of family and friends.
