Jerry William Lynch, Sr., 68 of Charlotte, completed his earthly life's journey on Monday, January 3, 2022.  He was born in Charlotte, NC on Sunday, April 12, 1953 to loving parents, the late Joe Lynch and the late Hanna Patterson Lynch.

Jerry received his formal education in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System.  He graduated from West Charlotte Senior High School in the class of 1973.  He also attended the Charlotte Diesel Mechanic School at CPCC.  He won a NC State Auto Repair Championship in the mid 70's.

Jerry accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at a young age and was baptized at the St. John Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC.

At the age of 15 Jerry met the love of his life while driving a tractor in 1968 on Salome Church Road.  As teenage lovers, Jerry and Elizabeth L. Lynch were united in holy matrimony on June 14, 1971 in York, SC.  During their union Jerry and Elizabeth were blessed with 3 children.

During his time of leisure and relaxation, Jerry loved to travel, deep-sea fishing, bowling, shooting pool, watching sports, especially football, rebuilding cars for racing and small engines in lawnmowers, etc., and enjoyed watching his favorite TV shows: Westerns (Gunsmoke, Bonanza).  He loved to listen to Old School music.  Jerry was a fun loving friend, father and husband.

Jerry was employed as a mechanic for Pep Boys and White's Auto Shop for many years.  In 1988 Jerry joined the Charlotte Mecklenburg School Transportation Department.  During his 26+ years of services, Jerry briefly worked in cafeteria, worked as a bus driver in high school, but majority of the time Jerry worked as Lead Bus Driver.  In that position Jerry assisted the Area Transportation Specialist by monitoring 15-20 bus drivers/school buses; giving critical info to the drivers, submitting reports to schools, also assisted Transportation Clerk in Office duties, assisted Transportation Specialist/Area Clerk with notifying substitute drivers; monitoring AM/PM routes to ensure each bus had a driver, and communicated to administration/parents regarding problems with transportation.  Jerry retired from CMS in 2014.

He was preceded in death by parents, Joe and Hanna Patterson Lynch; and 3 brothers, Thomas Patterson, Ronald Lynch; and Richard Lynch, mother-in-law, Dorothy Campbell.

Jerry leaves to cherish his memory: loved of his life, Elizabeth L. Lynch; 5 children: Darryl T. Lynch (16 children) of Charlotte, NC; Jeri A. Simmons (4 children) of Statesville, NC; Jerry W. Lynch Jr. (6 children) of Charlotte, NC; Dayna L. Lynch and Jordan G. Lynch of Waxhaw, NC; 3 brothers: Bruce Lynch of Charlotte, NC, Melvin Lynch of Charlotte, NC and Sylvester (Darlene) Lynch of Charlotte, NC, 2 sisters: Fredia Lynch and Gwendolyn Glenn of Charlotte, NC; Aunt Mae Bost of Huntersville, NC; 12 great-grands, 1 great great grand and a host of other relatives and friends.
