Jerry
Richardson
d. Jun 28, 2026
Jerry Richardson, 85, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2026 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC.
Jerry Richardson was born November 7, 1940 in Laurens County, SC to Sallie Richardson (father unknown). He was lovingly raised by his aunt Carrie Pitts, who served as his adoptive mother.
Educated in Laurens County and Mecklenburg County schools, Jerry attended Second Ward High School and A&T State University, where he joined Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity.
Jerry worked until retirement at Bank of America as a member of the management team, where he is remembered for his tireless work ethic and developing close ties with coworkers.
Outside of work Jerry was active in the Mecklenburg County public school system as a PTA volunteer and was a faithful member of University Park Baptist Church (now The Park Church) until unable to attend due to legal blindness and other health issues. At church he participated in the men’s choir, men’s ministries and the Pacesetters (senior) ministry.
Jerry was a devoted husband to his wife of 43 years, Eula. Even with his limited sight he tended to household duties and Eula’s care as long as he was able.
In March 2025 Jerry was diagnosed with liver cancer. After months of treatments at various hospitals and rehab centers he longed for sleep, peace and to be pain free. Opting to stop all treatments and focus on comfort care, he finished his journey at Levine & Dickson Hospice House Huntersville on June 28, 2026.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Eula; Daughters Jeriolyn Richardson and Joycelyn Richardson (their mother Joyce Richardson, deceased); Grandson Joshua Richardson; Stepchildren Cornell Chandler, Sr. (Patricia) and Cornita Spears; Step grandchildren Cornell Chandler, Jr., Demetrius Spears, and Matthew Spears (Jessica); Step great grandchildren Lina Spears and Autumn Spears; Special cousin Aaron “Butch” Evans; and a host of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Sallie Richardson, adoptive mother Carrie Pitts, and Step grandson Juno Chandler.
