Ms. Joanne Banks-Hunte, 66 of Charlotte, departed this earthly life on Monday, February 22, 2021 at Atrium Health-Main.  She was born in Harlem, New York on October 23, 1954.

Joanne attended Francis Lewis High School and went to Job Corps to become a Nurse's Aide.  She went on to receive an Associates Degree in Accounting at Long Island Business School.  Later she obtained a New York Real Estate License.

Her work history included working at a Long Island Brokerage Firm as a real estate agent and as a clerk with the Internal Revenue Service in Holtsville, New York.

Joanne Banks-Hunte was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She loved everyone, unconditionally and she loved hard. She was a very caring person.  She was strong, independent, compassionate, smart and outgoing.  Joanne was the type to give anyone she loved, her last dollar because she genuinely cared about everyone.  She loved spending time with her family.  No matter what, she always maintained her faith.  She believed in good of others.  She always said "If you believe and pray, God will help you and it will come true."

She leaves behind to mourn; her loving husband, Ervin D. Hunte; her children, Rasheen Banks, Martina Jackson, Jermoll Gilbert (son-in-law), Ervin Hunte Jr., Michelle Hunte, Joanne Hunte, and Tavares Leak (son-in-law); grandchildren, Allana Lloyd, Adam Nightendale, Devine Banks, Isabella Gilbert, Jasmine Gilbert, Kianaise Banks, Jasalena Hunte, Ja'Niya Banks, Elijan Banks, Maleana Hunte, Serenity Hunte, Michael Hunte, Kasheen Hunte, Ta'Him Hunte-Dixon, Shamarian Corry, Deaisia Corry, Jaquan Grier, Davon Grier, Garvis Fluker, Tavaria Leak, and Taniya Leak; siblings, Amina Jones, Anthony Banks, Yvette Banks (sister-in-law), Lorraine Cardenas, and Mariow Cardenas (brother-in-law).  She also leaves behind nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, 29 Great grandchildren, and other family.
