Jody B. Avery, 64 of Charlotte, departed this life peacefully on Sunday, June 6, 2021 at her residence. She was born April 26, 1957 in Rock Hill, SC to Mattie Lee Mills and Hugh Ferguson.

Jody worked for Host International Inc. at Charlotte Douglass International Airport for more than 20 years.  She enjoyed cooking more than anything.  She took pride in preparing delicious meals for people.  She enjoyed looking good and loving on her grandbabies also. She especially loved spending time with her uncles whom she adored.  She often traveled with her best friend and attended family gatherings.

Jody Avery was preceded in death by her father, Hugh Ferguson, her brother, James Walter Mitchell Jr., and her sister, Patricia Ferguson Williams.

She is survived by her mother, Mattie Lee Mills; her sisters, Priscilla Boger of Rock Hill, SC and Marilyn Brice of Charlotte, NC; 4 daughters, Monica Easterling-Deer (Bennie) of Concord, NC, Quanta Springs, Sabrina Springs, and Diandra Springs, all of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Lil Bennie, Xavier, Domonique, Dizziona, Patrice, Essence, Patrick, and DeCario; great grandchildren, Caleigh, Aiden, and German; goddaughter, Monique McGrant of Charlotte, NC; Harry Lee Turner of a former marriage, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Left to cherish very fond memories are her best friend, Evelyn McGrant of 45 years, and her mate of 34 years, Richard Black.
