Mr. Joe Thomas Grier, 89 of Charlotte, transitioned on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at Levine & Dickson Aldersgate. He was born February 13, 1931 to the late Frank and Sarah Grier in Charlotte, North Carolina. Joe was married to the late Pearlene McManus; from their union eight children were born.
Joe T. Grier was a man of many names but one of the most popular was "Paw Paw." He was a loving, kind-hearted man who loved you in spite of what he knew about you. He loved playing golf and fishing. He owned and operated his own lawn service, Grier Master Cutter Lawn Service, for many years after retiring. He retired from Overnite Trucking Co. after 24 years of service as one of their number one tire recapper. He gave his life to Jesus in the 1980's at a meeting at the Charlotte Coliseum held by Evangelist R. W. Schambach and he never looked back.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and son, Keith B. Grier.
Mr. Grier leaves to cherish precious memories his children, Joe G. Grier (Rena'), Dianna E. Wright (Marvin), Raymond L. Grier (Lisa), Tyrone Grier, Marshall E. Grier, Carlene Crowder (Stanley), and Thomas R. Grier, 40 grandchildren,and many great-grandchildren.
