Joey Lamar McGill, 66, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC.

Joey Lamar McGill, born September 19, 1957, in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, was the son of the late Plato McGill and Louise Woods McGill. He passed from this life into eternity on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.

Joey was educated in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System and attended West Mecklenburg High School. For over 20 years, he worked in the trucking industry for Central Transportation Company. Later he worked at 48Forty Pallet Company, until he retired.

He was a quiet, loving person. He enjoyed watching his westerns. Joey was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan for life. He was funny and a joy to be around. He loved to tell jokes.

In addition to his parents, Joey was preceded in death by two sisters, Gwendolyn McGill and Naomi McGill; one brother, Michael McGill; and one great-granddaughter, Marlee.

Left to cherish loving memories is one daughter, Shantel Odom; six grandchildren, Shundrika Odom, Juanita Odom, Frankie Nance Jr., Jeremiah Nance, Rian Rousseve, Ryan Rousseve; six great-grandchildren, Mariah, Iziah, Jayden, Zyon, Jakayden, Lela; one sister, Mildred Littlejohn; one brother, Eric McGill; great-nephew, A.J. Thompson and great-great-nephew, Tyler McGill, whom he loved dearly; and a host of other relatives and friends.
