Mr. John Kendrick Berry, 50 of Charlotte, departed this life on Monday, June 07, 2021 at Atrium Health-Mercy. He was the son of Bobbie Quinn Berry and the late John Franklin Berry, was born on June 7, 1971, in Charlotte, North Carolina. John was proceeded in death by his sister Wandalaine Berry Burch.
John grew up in Charlotte and was educated in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools from Hidden Valley Elementary to North East Middle School. He graduated from Myers Park High School in 1989. He was a member of the North East Middle School band and played football with the Myers Park Mustangs. After earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Fayetteville State University, John's work experience spans several locations and in varied positions in Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System-as a Behavior Modification Technician (BMT) at Grainger High School, Piedmont Middle School, Derita Alternative School, and Bruns Elementary School. He also worked as a Special Education Teacher at the Right Choices Alternative Program. John was most recently employed at Atrium Health as a Psych Tech in the Medical Surge Unit 6B.
All who knew John loved him for his kind, gentle and joyful nature. While he was full of information and could be serious, he could be comical and witty. He loved his family dearly. As a child, John attended Smallwood Presbyterian Church with his family. He participated in the Smallwood Chancel Choir and was an active member of the Sunday School.
To cherish his loving memory is his wife Sharhonda Katrina Berry; daughter, Kennedy Nelann Berry; one sister: Johnetta Lynne Berry Hayes (Stephen) of Lawrenceville, GA; one brother-in-law: Ricky Burch, Sr. of Charlotte, NC, seven nephews: Stephen G. Hayes III, Nicholas A. Hayes, Jalen M. Hayes, Julian J. Hayes of Lawrenceville, GA; Donald Ray Gaddy, Ricky-Levon Burch Jr., Johnathan Quinn-Thomas Burch of Charlotte, NC; one niece: Jasmine L. Hayes; a special aunt Jewel Priscilla Quinn Bennett (Billy); a special uncle Ronald C. Quinn (Shirley); a host of loving cousins and other close relatives and friends.
