John T. Carter, known as John Thomas, Da, Pop Pop, died at home on Friday, April 15, 2022, in Charlotte, NC at the age of 81. John was born on October 30, 1940, in Calhoun Falls, SC located in Abbeville County to the late Lois Raindrop Carter and John Ben Carter.

He graduated from JSW High School in 1957.  Upon graduation he entered the US Army and was honorably discharged.  He married Cassaundra Renee Blackwell in 1971.

Upon being discharged from the Army, John moved to Charlotte, NC.  His work career in Charlotte started at Merita Bakery, Bethlehem Steele, Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools and he retired from the City of Charlotte.

John enjoyed listening to the blues, country music, watching old westerns and riding his Harley Davidson.

Beloved son of the late Lois Raindrop and John Ben Carter, son-in-law of late Eunice McDonald and father of late Jason Abdul Carter and Jacquelyn Renee Lomax.

John leave to cherish his memory, wife, Cassaundra Renee Blackwell Carter; daughter, Tracy Marlo; son, Jimmy; grandchildren, John Kennedy "Slow", Jessica "Jess", and Lauren "Le Le"; great grandchildren, John Kasey, Kennedy, Yassir Abdul "Stanky"; brother-in-law, Oswald Thomas "Tommy" Blackwell (Carolyn Blackwell); niece, Dana; nephew, Donovan "De".  Close friend, William White and Sharnetta Green "Chip" and a host of family and friends in Abbeville, South Carolina and Georgia.
