John I. Culp, of Midway, Georgia, died August 2. He was 76. He was born Dec 8, 1941, in Pineville, NC. Culp served in the US Army for 23 years retiring as a Sergeant First Class in 1986. After his military retirement, he attended St. Leo College and graduated magnum cum laude with a bachelor degree in Business Administration. After nearly 15 years he retired as a Corrections Officer at the Georgia Coastal Correctional Facility in Pooler, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents: Richard Sylvester Culp and Mary Edna (Short) Culp; and siblings: Richard Culp, Rev. Dr. James Culp, Emma Washington, David Culp, Carrie Broome, George Culp, Fred Culp, Israel Culp and Rev. Monroe Culp.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Betty Ann Dowell Culp of 55 years; his children: Zena Mae Culp, Valerie Juanita Culp Morris (Carlos), Cyrus Christopher Culp, and Angelique Benita Culp Craig (Fredrick); his grandchildren, Brandon and Jordan Morris; his sister Edna Culp Washington; his sister-in-laws Osie Culp, Luvenia Smith, and Susie Portlock, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
