Mr. John Allen Curbeam, Sr., 80 of Charlotte, passed away on Thursday January 31, 2019 at Peak Resources. He was born July 10, 1938 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina to the late Ed and Sallie Curbeam. He was preceded in death by his brother Charles Curbeam.
John graduated from Pineville Sterling High School and attended Central Piedmont Community College where he earned his certification in Automotive Inspections.
John loved to drive his dump truck and was a self-employed retiree from Curbeam Trucking Company after working many years.
He loved to attend Nascar races. And in his spare time, if you needed your car fixed, he would just tell you to bring it on down to his shop called "The Last Chance Garage".
He was a member of Greater Galilee Baptist Church for many years where he was a Cub Scout Leader. He was an active member of the Masons until his decline in health. He was a member of the Sparkling Diamonds Lodge #373.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Edna Jean Curbeam, his sons, John Jr. (Pamela), Jeff (Kimberly), Jonathan and Jeremy; a sister, Angelina Butler. Four grandchildren: Tyler, Taylor, Madison, and Jaden, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends.
