John Gibson Jr. was born on October 24, 1944, to the union of John Gibson Sr. and Anne Lou Jones in Columbia, South Carolina.

In his youth, John completed his initial apprenticeship as a General Contractor, where he specialized in Drywall Installation and Repair, which moved him to Charlotte, North Carolina. As a General Contractor in Charlotte, John worked well over 50 years holding various positions within the General Contractor community.  Upon retiring, Mr. Gibson enjoyed every aspect of life and took pride in various supporting roles within the Saint John FBH Church, but truly relished the friends he made during his lifetime. Over the years, his love, expertise, and reputation led him to be a pillar within his family.

John Gibson Jr. departed this life on Monday, March 01, 2021 at the Atrium Health Cabarrus Hospital in Concord, NC following a long battle with heart disease, with his loved ones by his side. He is preceded in death by his mother Anne Lou Jones, his father John Gibson Sr., his late wife Helen Gibson , his sons John Gibson III and William Gibson , his stepson Marvin Eugene Givens, his brother Samuel Gaddist.

Mr. Gibson is survived by his wife Rosemary Gibson , his sons Gregory Gibson and Ronnie Gibson , his stepchildren Fredrick Bryant, Carolyn Bryant, Freddie Bryant III and Anthony Lopez. He also leaves behind four beautiful sisters, Shirley Gibson , Betty Washington, Barbara Johnson, Sandra Gaddist, and Suzette Gaddist, his brother Charles Gibson , his sister-in-law Sheila Gibson , his brothers-in-law Tony Washington, Matthew Roseborough, and George Kelly. Mr. Gibson also leaves behind sixteen grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
