John Earl Houston, 81 of Charlotte, NC, entered eternal life on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Levine and Dickson Hospice House - Huntersville.  He was born January 30, 1940, the son of the late Annie Catherine Reid Houston and Willie Martin Houston.

He was educated in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System.  John was a devoted husband to Virginia K. Houston for 43 years; he was a father and grandfather, dearly loved by his family and friends.

For many years, he attended Macedonia Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. L.J. Wallace where he was also a choir member.  Later in life, John and his wife joined Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church and faithfully attended until his health declined.

John was affectionately called "Bubba" by family and friends.  He enjoyed watching football games (especially the Panthers), baseball games (especially the Los Angeles Dodgers), and golf.  He also loved his blow pops, coconut cake and RC Cola soft drinks.

In addition to his parents, Annie Houston and Willie Martin Houston, John was preceded in death by by brothers, Bishop James C. Houston and Walter E. Houston; and his best friend, Joe Robinson.

Left to cherish precious memories are his devoted wife, Virginia Houston; his son, Stanley Jones and his daughter, Melinda Klutz, both of Charlotte, NC; siblings, Delois Houston Benn (Albert), Lynnette Houston Gaston, Jeanette Houston Paige, Larry Darnell Houston (Carol), all of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Jacarie Burris (Lashonda), Shamanda Jones, Clarissa Burris (Marcus), Carmisha Klutz, all of Charlotte, NC.  He also leaves 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; Randy Carson (best friend) of Charlotte, NC; and a host of nieces and nephews.
