Deacon John Samuel Jackson, Sr., 84 of Charlotte, spirit left his body early on Wednesday, April 07, 2021. He was born in Union County, North Carolina on May 27, 1936 and was the son of the late David Jackson and the late Tempia Grahm Jackson Whitaker.

He received his education in Union and Mecklenburg County in North Carolina.

On July 10, 1960 in Chesterfield County, John was joined in holy matrimony to Effie Jackson.  They later moved to Charlotte, NC.  From this union three children were born.

Deacon Jackson held jobs at companies that produce glue and paint and warehouse jobs where he was a certified forklift driver.

He was a man who loved to work.  You would find him doing something from sun up to sun down.  He had a green thumb for gardening and loved his big boy tomatoes, okra, cucumbers, strawberries, watermelon and other vegetables.  He build his own wooden shed and extended his porch in the backyard.

Deacon Jackson became a member of Progressive Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Inc in 1985.  He was baptized in Jesus name and filled with the Holy Ghost.  He was a faithful member and dedicated in maintaining the church yard before his health slowed him down.  If you needed help, he wouldn't hesitate.  We will miss Deacon John Samuel Jackson, Sr.  As he would say, "I will see you in heaven if it's the good Lord's Will."

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Effie Jackson, three brothers, James Davis, David Jackson and Henry Jackson; two sisters, Odessa Marie Jackson Kirkpatrick and Ethel Harris.

He is survived by two sons, K. Bernard Jackson (Tonya), and John S. Jackson, Jr. (Joyce); one daughter, Mary A. Jackson; one brother-in-law, Johnny Kirkpatrick; grandchildren, Camilla Wallace, Denzel Jackson, Seven Jackson, Kendra Jackson, Katelyn Jackson and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
