Mr. John Henry McCorkle, 84, of Charlotte, NC, departed this life on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Hunter Woods Nursing & Rehab.

John Henry "Boot" McCorkle was born April 27, 1940, in Lincoln County, North Carolina.  He was the son of the late Joe Cepth McCorkle and Mary Louise Miller McCorkle.  John departed from this life on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Hunter Woods Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Albert "Nuck" McCorkle; three brothers, Roosevelt McCorkle, Joe Bandy McCorkle, Jimmy Lee McCorkle; five sisters, Shirley McCorkle Broom, Myra Diane McCorkle, Mary Elizabeth Coxton, Essie Mae McCorkle Walker and Nancy McCorkle.

John attended Lincoln County Schools.  He was a long-time employee with Weyerhaeuser Container & Boxing Company for many years.  He was also a self-employed contractor with Lowe's Home Improvement.  John enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  He loved watching television, especially sports. Wrestling, old western movies, and basketball were his favorites.

He leaves to cherish his memories in the hearts of one daughter, Brenda Faye Johnson Howard (J.B. Howard) and one son, Milton Eugene Johnson, both of Charlotte; one brother, Rev. Alexander McCorkle of Stanley, NC; two sisters, Betty Sue McCorkle of Mooresville, NC and Mildred McCorkle Flood (Sylvester) of Stanley, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins and friends.
