Obituary

Mr. John Henry Potts was born in Baltimore Maryland on April 28th 1924. He died peacefully on July 1st 2020 in the care of Novant Health Hospice and Palliative Care.
Mr. Potts was raised in Charlotte, in the Historic Brooklyn Community. He was a member of First United Presbyterian Church (7th St. Presbyterian Church). He graduated from Second Ward High School in 1942.
He proudly served in the United States Army and Honorably fought in World War 2 and was part of the Normandy Invasion. D-Day. He was the recipient of the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal. The World War 2 Victory Medal, and the Bronze Star.
On returning home to Charlotte he attended Johnson C. Smith University, graduating in 1949 with a degree in mathematics.
Mr. Potts lived for many years in Denver Colorado. Well loved in the neighborhood, he was an Elder in the People's Presbyterian Church of Denver, and a member of the Evangelical Teacher Training Association.
Mr. Potts returned to retire in Charlotte.
Mr. Potts was preceded in death by his parents Monroe and Emma Potts.
And he leaves many friends to cherish is memory.
