John Wesley Stitt Jr. (June) was born January 12, 1949, to the late John Wesley Stitt and Mary Gilliam Stitt. June departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, December 27,2022 at his residence with his wife by his side. June attended Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools and served two years in the military.
At an early age, June joined Jonesville AME Zion Church and recently begin worshiping with New Deliverance Church of God and was baptized on June 19,2022 by Pastor Edward Barnes, Senior Pastor, and Founder.
June met his wife, Tina Peay February 17, 1981. They were joined together in marriage on May 9,1998 (for 26 years) and together 41 years with an unbreakable love and bond.
June has been in the roofing business for over 41 years (four decades) and started Stitt Bro's Roofing and Construction in 1995. June served on the Pine Valley Board of Directors under the leadership of his sister-in-law Marshalle Peay from 2013 - 2017. June was a loving, hardworking provider for his family with a keen sense of humor. His interests and hobbies varied. He loved helping his wife with her business, Caring Hearts of America, spending time with family and friends on the phone and in person, he loved to eat, including home-cooked meals and dining out, he liked playing his favorite online games, watching his favorite TV shows with his grandchildren, gardening, and rebuilding his 1985 mustang that was gifted to him by his brother/cousin, Terry Stitt.
June was preceded in death by his parents the late John Wesley and Mary Gilliam Stitt, sister Mary Pittman and two brothers William "Louis" Stitt and Donald "Donnie" Stitt.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his devoted wife, Tina Peay Stitt, nine children: Marcus (Latoya) Stitt, John Stitt, Reginald Stitt, Yvette Stitt, Michael McMurray, Qutina Peay, Jeanene Peay, Jonquil Peay and John Peay. One brother Sam Stitt, one sister Agnus Sanders; goddaughter Quaneka Edmonds, three grandchildren that he raised since birth Jaziah Peay, Janyla Danzy and Johnay Peay. Additional grandchildren Jermyah Peay, Zenobia McMurray, Amaya McMurray ,Michael McMurray Nataliya Stitt, Ariana Sanders, Amia Sanders, great grandchildren Zakhyia McMurray, Levi McMurray, god grandchildren Harper and Trace Edmonds, three sisters-in-law, Marshalle Peay, Carolyn McCoy and Fay Ferguson; two brothers-in-law, Brian Peay (Pamela), Abdul ArRashid AlHakim Mustafaa (Phyllis); a special brother/cousin Terry Stitt; two very close friends Mr.Mauney and Mr. Elleby along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
June will truly be missed by all that ever encountered and knew him. We take comfort in knowing that he is resting, and a reunion is taking place in his eternal home.
