Mr. John Lewis Stover, 79 of Charlotte, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at Atrium Health-Main surrounded by his children. He was born on January 1, 1941, to Edward (Ed) Stover and Eva Tate Stover in High Point, North Carolina. After his mother became ill, he was raised by his aunt, Lottie Massey, in the Brooklyn Area of Charlotte, North Carolina. He was married to Joanne Ross Stover for 34 years.
John Lewis attended Second Ward High School.
He was a hard-working man and worked up until he became ill in 2015. His last known place of employment was a Modern Hairstyles in the Park Road Shopping Center. He started working at a Bowling Alley when he was 15 years old. Most of his career was spent shining shoes and custodian work. He owned a Janitorial Business.
John Lewis loved cars (Buick, Cadillac, Lincoln), bowling, tennis, golf and drawing. He was an Artist and won many drawing contests. His most prized possessions was the mural he drew on the wall outside the barbershop at the former Charlotte Town Mall on Kings Drive, which is now known as the Metropolitan Shopping Mall.
He was proceeded in death by his father, Edward Stover; mother, Eva Tate Stover; aunt, Lottie Massey; two brothers, Edward Stover and David Lee Stover.
John Lewis loved his family. He leaves to cherish his memory, special friend, Joanne Stover; four sons, Reginald Carson (Ronda), Gregory Carson (Cecilia), Jonathan Stover (Sybil), Michael Stover (Cindy); two daughters Felicia Carson, Melody Green; four sisters, Eva Mae White, Marie Arnold, Martha Lee McNair, Minnie Ester Stover; eighteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
