Ms. Johnnie Mae Hatchett, daughter of the late Franklin and Gladys Edmounds Brown, was born on April 4, 1950, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Johnnie Mae spent her years spreading warmth, strength, and compassion to everyone fortunate enough to know her.

She was known for her gentle spirit, devotion to her family, and strong work ethic. Throughout her life, she worked proudly at Charlotte Country Club, the Greyhound Bus Station, and later with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System, where she retired. Her kindness, reliability, and unwavering dedication touched the lives of coworkers, students, and her community.

Johnnie Mae is lovingly survived by her children: Melvin Brown (Chinita), Michael Brown, and Jewel Clark. She leaves behind treasured grandchildren Jarrell Brown (Breanna), Asa Brown, Jamal Haywood (Moshika), Chayce Brown, Brooklyn Brown, Johnathan Woody, and Christian Woody. She is also survived by her beloved great-grandchildren Ava Anderson, Ryan Brown, and Mckenna Calliope.

She is further survived by her sisters Betty Greene and Gladys Powell (Larry "Buddy"), and her brothers Norris Brown and Terry Brown. She is also survived by her sister-in-laws Ethel Powell and Linzeter Gaddy, and her brother-in-laws Jimmie Gaddy and Phillip Gaddy. In addition, she leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and many dear friends.

Johnnie Mae loved her family and friends deeply. She enjoyed her puzzles and could always be counted on to bring joy, laughter, and energy everywhere she went. She was the life of the party, and to know her truly was to love her. Her presence, her laughter, and her spirit will be truly missed by all who knew her.

Johnnie Mae now joins in eternal rest her husbands Melvin Gaddy and Ira Hatchett; her sisters Laverne Brown, Geannie Fowler, and Judy Clark; her little angel Janet; her sister-in- law Shelvy Hayes and Betty Rose Gaddy; her brother-in-laws Gene Gaddy, Earl Junior Gaddy, and Jerry Gaddy; and her beloved mother-in-law Geneva Gaddy and father-in-law Irving Gaddy.

Her legacy is one of love, strength, and resilience. Johnnie Mae created a home filled with warmth, comfort, and understanding. The lessons she taught, the love she gave, and the joy she brought will continue to live on through the many hearts she touched.

"Her children arise and call her blessed... Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all." - Proverbs 31:28-29

Though her presence will be deeply missed, her memory will forever remain a blessing.

May her soul rest in eternal peace.
