Johnnie Roach, 70 of Charlotte, passed away on August 15, 2019 at his residence.  He was born June 12, 1949, to the late Clarence A. Roach, and Corinne Medley Roach.

Johnnie was raised and educated in Prince Georges County, MD where he graduated from Fairmont Heights High School.  He attended Howard University for approximately three years.  Upon moving to the Charlotte Area, he attended CPCC, where he received his Associate Degree in General Education in February 1991.

He started out as a part-time employee, then proceeded to become fully employed as a Student Life Facilitator for 30 years.  He retired from CPCC in June 2018 and was honored for his years of loyal service.  Among the many awards he earned were:

Outstanding Service CPCC Classified Staff Development: 1998-1999

Annual Award Winner/Classified Employee Award for Excellence: 2006

Leadership Award: July 2011

Johnnie was an avid fisherman.  He also loved shopping and dressing.  He loved talking to people about anything, especially sports!  He also loved collecting exotic plants and outdoor yard decorations.

In addition to his father, Johnnie was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Broidy.  Left to cherish fond memories are his wife, Linda Hicklin-Roach; his mother, Corinne M. Roach; children, Rashan Cisco Dill (Joanne), Michael D. Roach (Timetreus); Stephanie Rann, Brian Rann (Kim), Crystal Hicklin (Anthony); Grandchildren, Nyocha McCord, Treveyon Hicklin, Amya Hicklin, Brian Rann, Jr., all of Charlotte; 1 sister, Marlene Brooks of Upper Marlboro, MD.  One brother, Ronald Roach of San Jose, CA; special nieces, Renee Brooks of Upper Marlboro, MD, and Shannon Sturdivant (Ronyal) of Charlotte; sister-in-law, Rev. Dorothy Wallace (Terry, Sr.), brother-in law, Elliott Rann, Louis Rann (Rosie), Earl Rann (Kim), and Bruce Rann (Mary) all of Charlotte; 5 aunts, Wilma Young, Ruth Sanchez of Charlotte; Ruby Satterwhite of Washington, DC and Hildred Roach Stafford of Upper Marlboro, MD and Margaret Moseley of Baltimore, MD and a host of other relatives and friends.
