Ms. Johnnie Belinda Davis (Lynn) Telfair, 68 of Charlotte, passed away on Friday May 31,2019 at Levine & Dickson at Aldersgate. She was a loving daughter of David and Jessie Irby and was born on June 11, 1950 in Charlotte, NC.
Lynn was educated in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System. She graduated from Myers Park High School in 1968. Sis. Telfair joined the United States Army on August 23, 1968 and was honorably discharged on February 22, 1970. It was during her time in the army where she met her future husband, Willie Bee Telfair. To that union of 41 years, their daughter Rochelle (Nay-Nay) was born.
Lynn was employed by Curtis 1000 for more than 20 years as a Graphic Arts Designer. She continued her employment at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (Allenbrook Elementary) for 20 years where she loved all the children she served. Lynn was an athlete, but she truly loved to bowl and everyone knew she was a true and faithful fan of those Pittsburgh Steelers!
Lynn had a passion for music. She led songs with such a strong tenor voice and emotional spirit which always touched your heart. Each time she would sing such a strong emotional spirit. She also played the flute in her early school days. As a life-long member at First Baptist Church-West, she was the conductor of the Children's Choir for several years and a member of all the other choirs (Adult Choir, Mass Choir, Chancellor Choir, Gospel Choir, Angelic Choir, and the Women's Choir).
Lynn was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Bee Telfair; her biological father John Davis, and her brothers Nathaniel Davis, Anthony Davis and Reginald Irby.
She leaves to cherish fond memories her daughter, Rochelle Telfair, and grandchildren, Jasmine Telfair, and Justin Spratt; her parents, David and Jessie Irby; siblings, Beverly Irby-Harrell (John), Regina Jordan (Alphonso), Connie Lockhart (James); Cassandra Ford (Nathaniel), Betty Jo Graham (David), Patricia Walton (Gregory) and James Davis; sisters-in-law, Christine Irby and Ann Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
