Mr. Johnny Albert White, 70 of Charlotte, passed away on Saturday June 22, 2019 at Carolina Medical Center-Main. He was the son of the late Mildred White and Albert Potts of Fort Mill, SC and was born on September 30, 1948 in Charlotte, NC.
Johnny moved to Detroit when he was 9 years old. He graduated from Western High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1967 in Detroit, MI and upon his discharge, moved back to Charlotte, NC. He joined the Army Reserves where he served over 20 years until retirement.
He then graduated from Central Piedmont Community College. Upon graduation, Johnny worked for the Charlotte Housing Authority. He then worked for the Charlotte Mecklenburg School system until his retirement in 2016. After retirement, he enjoyed sitting on the porch, spending time with his grandkids, and frying fish. Every year he traveled to Atlantic City, New Jersey and Detroit, Michigan, visiting family and friends. He really enjoyed those trips.
Johnny was preceded in death by his father, Albert Potts and mother, Mildred White.
Those who will forever cherish his memories are his wife, Linda White; sons, Rodney White (Viviana) and Jonathan Hunt (Shaguana); daughters, Yvette Baker (Casey) and Latasha Hunt (Theodus); brother, Jimmy Potts (Angela); sisters, Mary Gaither (Mike), Joann Smith (Brian) and Patricia Dykes (Will); grandchildren, Deondre, Leigha, Aareon, Samantha, Justice, Michaela, Patience and Peyton; a cousin who was more of a sister, Mary King, a cousin who he considered a nephew, John King; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his military family.
