Johnsie Mae Knox Hemphill, 88 of Charlotte, NC peacefully transitioned on Friday, September 24, 2021 at her home surrounded by love. She was born December 9, 1932 in Mecklenburg County, Charlotte, North Carolina to Cleveland Knox and LaVon Kearns Knox.

She attended Plato Price High School in Charlotte, North Carolina.  On August 18, 1957 Johnsie Mae Knox married her first true love, Isaac Hemphill of Chester County, South Carolina.  They spent 25 beautiful, loving years together.

Johnsie Mae Knox Hemphill was a faithful and lifelong member of Mt. Olive Presbyterian Church of Charlotte, NC.  She served as an Elder and several other roles in her family church, Sunday School and the Presbyterian Women's gatherings.

Johnsie Mae Knox Hemphill was a devoted, loving, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-great grandma, and friend.  She loved the Atlanta Braves and made a pound cake like no other.

Johnsie Mae Knox Hemphill leaves to cherish her memories, her legacy, her daughter, Myra Brand (Dallas), her son, Kelvin Hemphill (Yolanda); grandsons, Jamar, Shaconda, Zianca, Dallas, Kelson, Corin; one sister, Janet Wright (Boyd); one brother, Wayne Knox (Mary), and a host of relatives and friends.
