Mr. Joseph B. Orr Jr., 75 of Charlotte, answered his last drummers call on Friday, February 14, 2020.  He was born May 4, 1944 to the late Joseph McKee and Macie M. Orr.

Joe graduated from J.H. Gunn High School in 1962 and was his class Salutatorian.  He was a member of the marching and concert bands.  Joe was active in several school organizations.  After high school he continued his studies at Johnson C. Smith University.  Later he moved to Florida, where he perfected his love of playing his drums and starting his own production company.  Joe played with many well known musicians, bands, and singing groups.  Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs (1967-1968), Nappy Brown, Otis Redding, Joe Tex and Eddie Floyd to remember a few.

Joe joined St. Paul Presbyterian Church at an early age where he attended until his move to Florida.  After returning to Charlotte to help care for his aging parents, he renewed his church membership.  Served as Elder, Men's Council member, Sound system operator, Session member, Father of The Year (honor given for mentoring youth), Member of Senior Elites and of course serving as Church drummer.

Joe started his new production company, JOJO Productions after his parents passing.  Through his company he played for many organization, friends and businesses in the city and surrounding areas.

He leaves to mourn his passing his brother; William Michael Orr (Brenda), a host of cousins, friends and acquaintances.
