Joseph LaMonte Wilson, a loving husband and father, went to heaven on March 12, 2018, from his home in Matthews, North Carolina.  His wife, Ardella Eunice Wilson was at his side and his daughter, Ardy Blandford was also there at the home during his transition.

Joseph Wilson was born on May 13, 1927, and educated in Endicott, New York.  He began working at IBM while in High School and he was the 1st African-American to be employed by IBM.  While in the Air Force during WWII he was a member of the Tuskegee Airmen and also served in the Korean War.  Joseph enjoyed working with Habitat for Humanity and met former President Jimmy Carter when he came to Charlotte.   A faithful member of First United Presbyterian Church, Joseph served as an Elder, Deacon and Trustee, in addition to his service on various committees. He was an active member of both the Elks and the Masons.

Joseph is survived by his wife, Ardella Eunice Wilson, daughters, Ardy and Cynthia Blandford, Grandson Omari McCree and his wife Katrece Ellis-McCree, five great grandchildren, Omari Jr., Javaris, Hassan, Zoie and Khloe as well as Nieces Junietta Brooks and Dyann George and her husband Charles, Nephews Edward White and Dwight Rucker, as well as his Goddaughters and a host of other nieces and nephews.

He will truly be missed by family and many, many friends.

On Saturday, March 31, 2018, the Viewing will take place at First United Presbyterian Church at 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 Noon.  The Service will take place immediately following, located at 201 E. 7th Street, Charlotte, N.C. 28202.
