Obituary
Ms. Josephine F. Reid "Jo" "Sister" was born to the late Hazel Freeman Sr. And Dora James Freeman on Monday, October 29, 1934. She departed this life on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Peak Resources of Charlotte after battling cardio-pulmonary disease.
Mrs. Josephine F. Reid was a graduate of West Charlotte High School Class of 1952; known for being "best dancer". After graduation Jo moved to New York and worked various jobs and attended Beauty School. She worked as a licensed Cosmetologist from 1967 until she retired in 2007.
Josephine loved her son Tart Duvall Reid very much and the bond of the two was very special. Tart blessed her with a granddaughter Emoni and five great grandchildren that she loved and often bragged about having.
Josephine loved to sing and dance; she was skilled at ballroom dancing and she LOVED making people laugh. She was a natural, jovial person that loved her family and friends dearly. Jo was an excellent cook and didn't mind sharing recipes and providing instructions when asked how to cook an item. She was a great hairstylist known for giving the "best squeaky clean" shampoos. Her clients received professional service while being entertained by her funny commentary along the way.
As a result of what Jo's sisters shared with her about the truth, she desired to learn more, so she began studying the Bible and loved what she learned about Jehovah and his promise of a paradise where "no resident will say I am sick". She was then motivated to dedicate her life to do his will and teach others of his promises and was baptized in July 1984. She loved serving Jehovah alongside her two fleshly sisters Olythia F. Jordan and Idella F. Swift. The three of them could get together and laugh and talk for hours on hours. She also loved when the whole family; all her siblings and their mates and children got together for events and dinners, they were some of the best times. She also loved when She, Dells, and Lynt were at Conventions and Assemblies together reflecting on the fleshly and now spiritual bond. They would often be seen together as if in their own little world laughing. Upon her sisters falling asleep in death, Jo often expressed to her nieces Joi and Charmaine how much she loved them and that she couldn't wait to reunite in paradise with their moms and her other siblings and family that she loved so much.
Josephine was welcome into the N. English then Brookshire Congregation where she gained more spiritual friends, daughters and family who shared her same spiritual goals. Her favorite scripture was Isaiah 33:24.. "And no resident will say: I am sick" The people dwelling in the land will be pardoned for their error."
Josephine was preceded in death by her four sisters: Ms. Joan F.m Hill, Ms. Idella F. Swift, Mrs. Olynthia F> Jordan, and Mrs. Dorinda D. McClain. Niece Shereene Hill Veal and nephew Sheridan Silvan Hill.
Those left to cherish her memories are her loving son Tart Duvall Reid, who loved her dearly, her granddaughter Emoni Mackey, her five great grandchildren Envy, Legaci, Journei, Ivory and Kastro, her two brothers HAzel Freeman Sr. (Joyce) and Johnny Freeman (Dorothy), her nephews and nieces, Clifton, Takeela, Tareska, Ejta, Tre'Cee, Tonya, Tamara, Donyale, Joi, Rod'rick, Charmaine, Joselynn, Nicole, and 40 great great nephews and nieces and a host of other relatives and friends.
