Joyce Dubose, 67, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on Monday, August 25, 2025, at Atrium Main.
Our hearts are heavy as we share the passing of Joyce Ann Dubose, "Lottie." She transitioned peacefully, surrounded by family, on Monday, August 25, 2025, at the age of 67. She was born on December 16, 1957, in Mecklenburg County, daughter of the late Ada Lee Sherrill and Bruce McNeil.
For those who knew Lottie, you knew she had a heart that never turned anyone away. She spoke her mind with honesty and humor, and her life was centered around the love she had for her family. She was more than a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, caregiver and friend. She was everyone's "go-to" for advice, a laugh, or a good meal. Lottie gave with her whole heart and never held back her opinion (whether you were ready for it or not). She had a gift for making people laugh, pulling family together, and turning any gathering into a celebration.
Lottie worked as a receiver at Goodwill but later retired and spent time caring for family. She found joy in shopping, cooking, eating, talking and spending time with family.
In addition to her parents, Ada Lee Sherrill and Bruce McNeil, Lottie was preceded in death by brothers, Floyd Dubose, Michael McNeil, Bruce McNeil, Jr., and Randy McNeil and sisters, DeWanda Dubose, Blondell Dubose and Devonne Dubose.
She leaves behind three children, Rashanda Dubose, Kenyana Dubose and Steven Dubose; siblings, Gloria Howze (Theodore), Sheila Neely, Linda Reid, Vanita Lemon; grandchildren, Cartavius, Lanautica, Amani, Antario, Shnyah, Derrick, Tristan, Ana, Aaron; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Lottie wasn't just a joy to be around, she was the glue, the spark, the one you called when life got messy or when you just needed a good laugh. She held up so many people with her love, her honesty, and her unmatched ability to say exactly what everyone else was thinking. Her absence leaves a deep void in the hearts of all who knew and loved her, and her memory will be cherished.
