IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Juanita Woolfolk
Craghead
September 6, 2025
Juanita Woolfolk Craghead, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, peacefully entered eternal rest on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at the age of 95.
Born on February 26, 1930, in Fairmount Heights, MD, to the late Frank and Florence Woolfolk, Juanita was the youngest of seven children. She was a proud graduate of Dunbar High School and later earned her degree from D.C. Teachers College, dedicating her life to the noble calling of education.
Juanita married The Reverend Robert L. Craghead, and together they raised three children and a nephew - Michael, Angela, Anthony and nephew Albert - instilling in them the values of faith, service, and perseverance. Her teaching career spanned decades and cities, as she touched young lives in Washington, D.C., Virginia, Detroit, and Charlotte. She retired after many years of service with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, patience, and a love for learning.
A woman of deep faith and service, Juanita was an active member of Memorial Presbyterian Church, where she served faithfully for over 40 years. She was also a proud and devoted member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, initiated on December 11, 1959, into the Beta Iota Chapter at the University of the District of Columbia. Through Delta, she found sisterhood, leadership, and lifelong friendships. Her commitment to the sorority included serving as president of the Charlotte Alumnae Chapter from 1978 to 1980, and she became a Golden Life Member in November 1977.
Juanita's life was also blessed by the care and kindness of her medical team, especially Nurse Beverly Conder, ANP-BC, with whom she shared a special bond in her later years.
She leaves to cherish her memory her three children: Michael (Octavia) Craghead of Sterling, VA; Angela Craghead of Charlotte, NC; and Anthony (John) Craghead of Charlotte, NC; her granddaughter Alexis Craghead of Charlotte, NC; nephew, Albert Woolfolk, Jr of Richmond, VA; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Juanita's life was a testament to faith, family, and service. Though she has departed this earthly life, her spirit, wisdom, and love will continue to live on in all who knew her.
