She was raised as a Christian by her parents and was often called upon to read the Bible to her father, Charles Jack. Juanita migrated to the United States 54 years ago for a better life. Her daughter Charmaine joined her shortly after.
Juanita loved her family. That love was clearly demonstrated when she extended her hand and her home to all her siblings, her nieces and nephews to join her in the United States.
She was employed by the greater New York bank where she worked as a phlebotomist and later, a preceptor. Training students in phlebotomy. She loved her job as she loved people.

Nana/ Juanita loved the Lord. Her faith was very strong. That faith was solidified after she battled stage 4 colon cancer in 2003 and overcame her illness by the grace of God. She would often tell her physicians after a checkup that her God healed her and not the medication.
