Mrs. Katie Lee Henderson, 76 of Charlotte took her eternal rest on Sunday, May 09, 2021 at Atrium Health-Mercy. She was born on January 13, 1945 in York, South Carolina to the late James Tate and Catherine Powell Tate.
Katie was a FAITHFUL member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years where she served on the Mt. Olive Gospel Chorus and Mt. Olive Usher Ministry. She attended Long Creek Elementary School and Torrence-Lytle High School in Huntersville, NC.
Katie was an avid bowler and won numerous championships. She loved gambling as well. She retired from Cumulus Fibers after 35 years of dedicated service. Katie was affectionately known as "Grandma" of the neighborhood and family friend. She loved everyone that encountered her.
Katie Lee Henderson was proceeded in death by her late husband, Vera Henderson; her daughter, Ona Renee Henderson; her son, Jalester Henderson; three brothers and three sisters. She leaves to cherish her fond memories children, Ms. Cathey Tate, Mr. Vernon Henderson (Dianne), and Mr. Walter L. Henderson all of Charlotte, NC. Grandchildren, Mrs. Aprell Harrison (Shawn), Natasha Tate (Xavier), Veronica Henderson, Tevin Henderson, and Mirandon McCollough; Also, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. One sister, Mrs. Shirley Tate Cole, and one brother, Mr. Charles Tate; A devoted uncle and aunt, Mr. Charles and May Brown of Gastonia, NC; Two best friends, Mrs. Pat and Mrs. Diane; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
