Obituary

Kawon Demarkus Hoover, 28 of Charlotte, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2020 at Atrium Health-Main.  He was born May 9, 1992, to parents Shilette Hoover and Mark Roddey (who preceded him in death), as their only son.  Kawon was an adventurous and fearless child!  In one of his childhood games, he climbed trees so fast and so high it was scary to his mother as well as his friends.  Being the only boy in a house of girls, he was everyone's "favorite" or it seemed that way.  He loved his family and loved to play tricks on them.  Acting as a little brother and an older brother, he teased his sisters hard but Kawon loved them just as hard.  Kawon was the one that made you feel special, if you were down, he was the one to make you feel better by saying something funny.  He often reassured you that everything would be ok.  He had a great sense of humor and kept everyone laughing.  His warm sweet hugs gave you a sense of comfort and love.

Kawon graduated from West Charlotte High School in 2011.  He was a social butterfly and no matter where he went, he always knew someone.  Kawon was a genuine and loving person.  He lived, loved and proved himself to be a loyal friend.  He was a devoted father of two beautiful children by Shaquana Currence, Zamar (son) and his mini me Zamia (daughter).  He loved spending time with his children.  He often kept them close and exposed them to world traveling.  He always encouraged them to be all that they can be.  He was also a loving boyfriend to Tishara McCullough.

Kawon found his creative passion through rap music by recording two songs, in which he authored and co-authored.

Kawon served a purpose on Earth.  He played many roles as an extraordinary father, son, brother, cousin, and friend.  Kawon had the biggest heart!  He would give you the shirt off his back or the last dollar in his pocket because he always helped the people he loved.  He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Viola Roddey and Jim Roddey.  He leaves behind to carry on his legacy his mother, Shilette Hoover; grandparents, Paulette (Arthur) Hoover, Mrs. Ann Roddey; children, Zamar and Zamia Hoover; sisters, Nyema Hoover, Ebony Hoover and Donquila Jordan (Shahid); four nieces, aunts, uncles, and a host of family and friends.

We do not know the day nor the hour when we will leave this life.  But we should understand that we the soul and not this body.  Kawon has returned to the creator and is in a better place watching down on us all.  He will live forever in our hearts and memories.
