Mrs. Kay F. Benson, 83 of Charlotte, passed away on Friday March 1, 2019 at Levine & Dickson -Aldersgate. She was born on March 22, 1935 to the late Willie and Blanche Watts in Gaffney, South Carolina.
Mrs. Benson was a graduate of Second Ward High School in Charlotte, NC. Until her retirement, she was employed at Carolina Foods Inc. She was also a valued employee of Sunshine Day Care and Pre School for over 15 years.
As an active member of First Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, she served faithfully on the Ushers Ministry, Mass Choir, Somewhere Prayer and Bible Study Women, Pastor' Aid and the Church's Aid.
She will always be remembered as a loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
In addition to her father, Willie Watts, and her mother, Blanche Watts, Mrs. Benson was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Benson; daughter, Bernadette Whitley; sons, Adolphe Watts and Roderick Watts; and sisters, Jumenia Watts and Virgeline Watts-Davis.
She leaves to cherish warm memories her children, Takeela Watts, Paul Black, Jr. (Genise), Sytalia Park-Turner, Clearisa Black Cass Watts, Sr. (Karen), Felicia Watts, Paula Huntley (Karey); one sister, Telois Watts; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
