Mrs. Kay Frances Stitt McKnight, 69 of Charlotte, departed this life peacefully at home on Sunday, March 21, 2021.  She was the daughter of the late Fred Stitt, Jr. and Jessie Stitt, was born April 12, 1951, in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.

Mrs. McKnight graduated from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and received a certificate of cosmetology from Southeastern Beauty College.

She was a retired food service, member for K-Mart Stores and because food service was her passion, she also dedicated part-time employment with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools system and Food Lion Stores.  Kay loved to cook and host family functions.  Her ministry was to serve others.  She ensured that her nieces and nephews had toys and snacks for every holiday.  They loved to come to her house because they knew she would always have dessert or something special for them.

Mrs. McKnight was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester "Buck" McKnight; mother, Jessie Stitt; father, Fred Stitt, Jr.; and one sister, JoAnn Stitt Miller.

Her most precious loving memories will always be cherished by her sons, Sigmund Stitt, Laryl Stitt (Keya); one sister, Darlene Stitt Benton; four brothers, Robert Digsby, Fred Stitt, III ( Angela), Nathaniel Stitt, Curtis Stitt (Monica); two grandchildren, Shaleah Stitt, Laryl Stitt, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
