Mr. Kenneth Ross Fox, 69, of Charlotte, NC, departed this life on Friday, May 26, 2023.

Kenneth Ross Fox, beloved father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away Friday, May 26, 2023.  Ken was born May 15, 1954, to loving parents, Hanson Fox and Mary Fox Walker, in Charlotte, North Carolina. He attended Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, where early on and for years he amassed a perfect attendance record.  As with all his siblings, he attended West Mecklenburg High School.  There, he lettered in football and excelled in auto mechanics.  He graduated from West Mecklenburg in 1972.

In his early years, Ken was a member of Clinton Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church where he and his siblings often engaged in mischief on the back pew.  He was later a member of East Stonewall A.M.E. Zion Church.

Ken had a curious intellect.  He often asked probing questions and explored the true meaning behind ordinary things and principles.  He treasured time with family and friends and was always the life of the party.  You seldom left Ken's company without having experienced a hearty laugh, or two, or three.  His keen wit, memorable smile and boisterous laughs were infectious.  And, he was no stranger to affection and often ended each encounter with the endearing words of "I love you."

Throughout his life, Ken prided himself in being authentic and real.  He was not consumed by, nor impressed with, worldly possessions.  He treasured life experiences and valued true friendships.  He kept friends for life and memories of family and friends even longer.

Ken was a master mechanic, having worked for many years with Duke Power Company and Charlotte Tractor.  But, to keep it real, Ken saw himself as a manager/facilitator or director rather than a doer.  He believed in working smarter, not harder.  In his mind, he was an excellent conductor, maestro and virtuoso of people, ideas and things.  That is often where it started, and it generally ended with him telling you how you should have done it differently or what you did wrong.  He was unquestionably authentic and often right.

As his mother's health declined, Ken was a constant companion and faithful caretaker.  Her death continued to weigh on him.  He often recanted that with her death, he had lost his girl.

Ken's favorite times were spent cooking for friends, working on cars or directing others on how to work on cars or how to fix things.  He also enjoyed joining his brother on occasional boat rides with a cigar in one hand and a can of Miller Lite beer in the other.  From Ken you learned quickly that beer in the can taste differently than beer in the bottle!  Ken also enjoyed watching all sports.  The NBA and NASCAR were among his favorites.

Ken was predeceased by his parents, Hanson Fox and Mary Fox Walker.  Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, LaKenya Fox, siblings, Claudette Fox McConnell, Mike Fox (Cathy), and Anthony Fox, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Ken, who always "Kept it Real", will be missed as a father, brother, uncle, cousin, and as a friend, conductor, maestro and virtuoso.  Rest in peace FoxMan!
