La'Shanda Dionne Matthews was one of five children. She loved God, her family, her church family, and working with children. At an early age, La'Shanda accepted Christ. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy where she sang in the the Youth Choir, served on the Usher Board, and taught in the Children's Ministry until her passing.

Faith, family, and fun that was La'Shanda. At family gatherings you could count on her to be in every conversation because she never wanted to miss anything! She never turned down an opportunity to play games.

She attended Providence High School where she played in the Marching Band. Upon graduating high school, she attended Fayetteville State University and later pursued a career in Early Childhood Education until her health declined.

She leaves to cherish her memories; her daughter Gabriyel Matthews; parents Delores W. Matthews and William Matthews, Sr. (Laura); two sisters, Sonya Elliott (James): Wendy Dunlap (Ronnie); two brothers, William H. Matthews, Jr. (Patrice); Christopher Matthews; six nieces and four nephews; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and best friend since high school Keona Stitt (Nate).

She had a very unique personality and touched many lives, none in the same way, and for that we are eternally grateful.
