Mr. Lawrence "June" Givens, 70 of Charlotte, passed away on Friday September 13, 2019. He was the son of the late Willie Givens and Maggie Bell Caldwell and was born May 20, 1949 in Mecklenburg County, NC.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Mae Givens.

Lawrence was known lovingly by everyone as "June" and "Bro. G." He joined COGOP over 30 years ago where he was a long time faithful member and dedicated to the things of God.  He served on the Trustee Board, Leadership Staff and Usher Board where he served exceptionally well, grounds maintenance and so much more.

Lawrence was educated in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System, Fairview School, and he went on to graduate from the Job Corps.

His work experience included helping to build Highway 77.  He worked for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools as a driver for Bus #20.  He also was a bus driver for the City of Charlotte Transit Bus Company.  His career also included work with Carolina Pavement Company as a street cleaner.

He was proud of his time of 10 years serving in the United States Army as an E-5, Military Police and as a member of the Burial Patrol.

He was a faithful loving friend to everyone  he met.  To Know Him Was to Love Him."

Mr. Lawrence Givens leaves to cherish his fond memories three sisters, Roxieann Patterson, Rosemary Gibson (John) and Peggy Ann Givens, all of Charlotte, NC; one brother, Henry Givens of Charlotte, son, Michael Wade of Concord, NC; god sisters, Curlee Crank and Patricia Bynum; special friends, Johnetta Gladden and Clarence Cunningham; and a host of other relatives and friends.
