Mr. Lee Artis "Soul Train" Gordon, 71 of Asheville, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 18, 2022.  He was born on December 22, 1950 in Mt. Holly, North Carolina.  He was the son of the late Mae Ellen Gordon and James William Gordon.

He was a loving Father, Brother and Friend.  His grandchildren affectionately called him., "Grandpa Toot-Toot."  He attended schools in Mt. Holly, NC and completed his education with a diploma from Central Piedmont Community College.

Lee was a member of Burge Memorial Methodist Church in Mt. Holly, NC and later joined Wesley Chapel Holiness Church in Mt. Holly, NC.

He was a professional chef and had his own restaurant in South Charlotte in the 80's .  Lee was famous for his "Cave Man" burger.  He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan.

He was also a Soul Train dancer in California in the 70's.  His favorite dance was the knucklehead.  He was well known throughout the city of Charlotte for his incredible dance moves.  Lee was famous in Charlotte as the "Electric Cave Man;" he entertained thousands of fans during intermissions at many concerts in Charlotte, NC.  He loved to dance to listen to music.  He would even carry his radio around with him so that he could listen to music.

Lee served in the United States Army and was stationed in California.  Later in life, his health declined and he became wheelchair bound, but this did not stop his love of music and participating in activities.  In 2014, Lee was awarded two Gold Medallions from the Paralyzed Veterans of America wheelchair games; he completed with others like him from all over the country.  Lee spent his later years living in Asheville, NC.

He leaves to cherish his fond memories his loving daughter, Erica Gordon (Richard Knox); son, James McClain; two sisters, Sharon Houser (Chuck) and Vanessa Gordon; two brothers, Michael Gordon (Marilyn) and Darryl Gordon (Sandra); two grandchildren, Malika Knox and Madison Knox; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Reflections From Michael: "My brother was the most loving and caring individual that you would ever want to meet.  He lived his life to the fullest, always putting others before himself.  He will forever be missed.  Nobody did it like Lee Artis!!!! Lee's favorite sayings were "You Got That Right" and "Thank you."
