The Angels of Heaven called for Lee Junior Ratliff on February 09, 2024, after a brief illness. His final days were spent at Hospice at Hospice House of South Minster surrounded by family.

Lee attended Morven Elementary School before his family moved to Youngstown, Ohio where Lee spent the remainder of his formal and teenage years. When Lee turned sixteen years old, he migrated to Charlotte, North Carolina with his niece Cora Barrino. Lee met Annie Hannah in 1968. They married on January 03, 1969, and soon welcomed two children Sharon Denise Ratliff and Leverne Ratliff. Lee and Annie were married 55 years,
Lee attended Watterson Diesel Institute where he received his Auto/Diesel Mechanic Certification. He worked for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Sanitation Department then later transferred to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Sanitation Department then later transferred to the Charlotte Water Department. Lee started his own business, Ratliff Lawn Care, while working as a diesel mechanic at Estes Trucking Company until his retirement in 2005. Lee came out of retirement to work in the family business, Professional Police Services dba Professional Security Services (PSS) where he worked faithfully until his sickness overcame his ability to continue working.
Lee was a strict disciplinarian when it came to the education of his children and grandchildren. He emphasized the importance of both book knowledge and street knowledge; recognizing that both were essential for survival in the world. Despite his firm approach to education, Lee cherished spending time with this family; often bringing laughter with his humorous jokes, quick wit, and playful interactions with his granddogs. In his leisure time, Lee could be found working on his 1963.5 Ford Galaxy or shopping for tools and gadgets at various stores. He loved Nascar racing and always cheered for Ford. His favorite driver was Bill Elliott and he loved the Ford Shelby Cobra. Lee lived a dynamic life, always reminding others not to worry about tomorrow as it is never promised. He left a lasting impression on everyone with his intelligence and kind heart. At 81 years old, some say that Lee lived a long life, but those who knew him understood that the quality of his life far surpassed the quantity of his years on earth.
