Ms. Lena Guess Isaac, 69 of Charlotte, passed away on Saturday May 25, 2019 at Huntersville Oaks in Huntersville, NC. She was born on September 6, 1949 in Charlotte, North Carolina to the late Mr. Charles L. Guess, Sr. and Mrs. Blandena Davis Guess. Lena was educated in the public schools of Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. She was a 1967 graduate of West Charlotte High School. She continued her education at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, North Carolina. Lena accepted her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at an early age. She was baptized at the Greater Mount Moriah Primitive Baptist Church, in Charlotte, North Carolina under the pastorate of Reverend Robert Herman Frazier. She was a member of the Sunday School, Hospitality Ministry, Frazier Choir, Senior Usher Ministry and Junior Usher Advisor. Lena later joined Alive for Christ Ministries where she was Advisor for the Usher's Ministry, Hospitality Ministry and the Pastor's Aid Ministry. She was a member of the Twelve Tribes Core Committee and SALT Ministry. With great effort and time, she prepared the Monthly Bulletin Board and kept the congregation engaged each Sunday during the Advent Season. Lena truly loved using her gifts and talents as a Woman of God. Lena retired in November 2014 after 33 years of service with Transport Clearings East Inc. as a Billing Clerk. Lena was previously married to Mr. Ulysses Isaac of this union a daughter Kimberly Isaac, and a son Karlos Isaac was born.
Lena was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles L. Guess, Jr. and Wade Guess. Lena is survived by her daughter; Kimberly I. Worthy (son-in-love Steven Worthy), son: Karlos L. Isaac Sr., (daughter-in-love Mara H. Isaac), all of Charlotte, North Carolina. Three grandchildren: Je'Kolby I. Worthy, Karlos L. Isaac Jr., and Kenyatta L. Isaac. She is also survived by two sisters: Delores Guess-Harrison, Felicia G. Barnette (brother-in-love Marcellus Barnette), two sister-in-love: Jacqueline Guess and Patricia Guess; godmother; Ms. Ruth Foster; godchildren: Terrance Grigg, Keisha Tobias, Carla Robinson, Tiffany Welborn, Mekita Davis, Demarcus Houston. Shacoya Guess and Darrien Gardner, all of Charlotte, North Carolina; best friends: Mattie Grigg and Dorothy Welborn and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
