Leon Daniels born in Darlington, South Carolina, age 66, transitioned on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. Leon was the eldest son of the late Edglee Daniels and Ola Lee Daniels. At the age of five, the family moved to New York City where his father got employment as a laborer. His childhood started in the South Bronx and later the family relocated to Highbridge Gardens where he spent the rest of his childhood.
Leon was a graduate of Dewitt Clinton High School in the Bronx, New York. He met and married Gail Harris and from this union his only child Nicole was born. At the age of 21, he gained sole custody of his daughter. Leon was a member of the United Hispanic Coalition where he honed his skills as an electrician on many New York City high-rises including Boricua College. His last official job was at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center on Kingsbridge Road. He then started his own business Daniels Electric Company where he served his community by working with many churches throughout the city including the Cosmopolitan Church of the Lord Jesus in the Bronx.
Leon experienced many challenges as his life continued. In 2007, he became a member of Narcotics Anonymous where he was once again embraced by his daughter and grandchildren. During this time, he also was reunited with his high school sweetheart Judith whom he later married in 2012. Leon enjoyed playing basketball, playing chess, bicycle riding, music, dancing, fishing; cruising and meeting new people especially children. He brought a lot of joy to many people and infected them with his smile and warm personality.
Leon is survived by his loving wife Judith; daughter Nicole; son in law Marcus; children through marriage, Kathleen, Byron; grandchildren, Olivia, Nyasha, Shareaf; grandchildren through marriage, Christopher, Khaleel, Marcus Jr., Justice, Tiyarra; great grandchildren, TJ, Zyasia, Zakaya, Zaniyah, Tahiry. Sisters, Edna, and Patricia; brothers Edglee and Ronnie; sister in law, Sharon, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and an army of friends that became family. Leon loved and enjoyed life and being of service to others. He will be dearly missed.
