Mr. Leroy Herbert Maxwell, Sr. was born in Charlotte, NC on July 31, 1952 to the late Herbert Maxwell and late Pearl Robbins Maxwell. He departed the earthly life on Saturday, August 15, 2020.

He was educated in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System. He attend West Charlotte Senior High School and shortly after graduating he married the love of his life Melinda Maxwell. Leroy and Melinda have three boys. Leroy Maxwell II, Thomas Maxwell and Leonard Maxwell. Leroy went on to attend Shaw University (Bachelor's Degree) and North Carolina Central University (Master's Degree). Upon completion of his education he worked in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School system as a Speech Pathologist.

Leroy was a member of Sparkling Diamond Masonic Lodge and a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated. He was a coach, mentor, and inspiration to young men in the community through Charlotte Mecklenburg Parks and Recreation and Sigma Beta Club of Charlotte.

Leroy leaves to cherish his fond memories: his wife, Melinda Maxwell; three sons: Leroy Maxwell of Charlotte, NC, Thomas Maxwell (Asonia) of Charlotte, NC, and Leonard Maxwell of Durham, NC; one sister: Donita Maligi (Georgeson*) of Grand Prairie, TX; Two grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and dear friends.
