Ms. Lessie Mae Tilley Hutto, 79, of Charlotte, passed away on July 8, 2019. She was born July 5, 1940 in Barnwell, South Carolina to the late Ms. Clytie Tilley and Mr. Council Tilley, Sr.  She attended Butler High School of Barnwell, South Carolina.

Lessie Hutto spent many years working as a Southern Bell representative and a Hosiery Mill spinner.  For the last eight years of life, she resided at Liberty Healthcare and Royal Commons Healthcare and Rehabilitation where she was known and loved by her fellow residents.

Throughout Lessie Mae's lifetime, she never met a stranger and was a friend to many. Those who knew her, loved her for her warm personality, wit and candor.  A kind hearted and principled soul, she was easy going, funny and engaging with a special way of speaking her mind.  In her earlier days, she was known to be an amazing cook and host.  She lived her life with a deep, abiding faith in God. She faithfully loved her children and grandchildren, and radiated joy at their presence.

She is preceded in death by six of her nine siblings, Rev. Julius Tilley and James Tilley of Barnwell, SC; Council Tilley, Jr., Curtis Tilley, Annie Lee Frederick and Martha Lee Mayes of Miami, FL.

Her siblings that remain are:  Daniel Tilley and Hester Mae Tilley of Miami, Florida and Mary Darby of Charlotte, NC.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Joseph Hutto of Charlotte, NC, Daphne (Terry) Brown of Charlotte, NC and Rev. Darlene Hutto of Decatur, GA; grandchildren, Marvin Brown of Charlotte, NC,  Schwanna Hutto Jenkins ( Marcus), Natasha Hutto-Harris (James) and MoQuicha Hutto (Sharika); nine great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
