Remembering Her Life...
Mrs. Lettie Mae Franks, 89 of Charlotte, passed away on Sunday November 17, 2019 at Novant Health-Presbyterian Main. She was born September 29, 1939 in Charlotte, NC. She was reared by her parents, Mr. Charlie and Mrs. Rachel Wallace Crawford.
Lettie graduated from Southwest High School in Flint, Michigan, Class of 1974. She worked in dietary at Hurley Hospital in Flint for 20 years, providing special diets for her patients. Lettie moved back to Charlotte, NC in 1983 and furthered her education at Central Piedmont Community College where she received her Early Childhood Certification. For 26 years, Mrs. Franks was the owner and working director of Selina's Fairyland Daycare. She loved and nourished many children who returned as adults to tell her what a positive influence she had been on their lives. She encouraged her employees to work hard to pursue their chosen careers. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Franks was preceded in death by one sister, Rachel Watt, and one brother, Luther Crawford.
She leaves to carry on her love and continue her legacy two sons, William Crawford (Sylvia) of Fountain Inn, SC, Arthur Franks (Sylvia), of Charlotte, NC and one daughter, Sheilet Poplar of Charlotte, NC; five grandchildren, Hans Whitaker, Tanikia Frazier, Eboni Franks, Ivory Dillard, and Ricky Poplar, all of Charlotte, NC; seven great-great grandchildren, Kiarah Williams, Jaquavion Johnson, Jayden Frazier, Cencear Wallace, Zy'ear Wallace, Aden Spates, and Brianna Dillard, all of Charlotte, NC; four sisters, Ethel McDonald, Carrie Kennedy, Lenell Grier (Frank) and Delcenia Knox, all of Charlotte, NC; special friend, Ms. Pat Brown of Dallas, TX; and a host of loving family member and friends.
