Lillie Nivens Faulkner was born on September 24, 1938, in Chesterfield, South Carolina, to the late Manny and Annie Ruth Nivens.
She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Teals Chapel Baptist Church in Chesterfield. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 23.
The Nivens relocated to Union County, North Carolina, where Lillie completed her education at East Union High School. During this time period, she met and and later wedded the late Rando Faulkner, Jr. on April 1, 1956. To this union, 5 children were born. The family moved to Charlotte in 1961 where she remained until she departed her life on June 23, 2023.
Lillie joined Shiloh Institutional Baptist Church in the early 80s where she served as a faithful member until her health declined.
Lillie's early to bed and early to rise lifestyle, along with her exceptional work ethic, earned her multiple Employee of the Month awards during her 25 year employment as a waitress at the uptown Adams Mark Hotel. Those positive ethics that she displayed, such punctuality, diligence, and patience later qualified her as a caregiver at Home Instead for her last 5 years of employment. With her loving and compassionate touch, she provided for a client in the South Park area that lived to be 100 years old.
Outside of work, Lillie's greatest joy was caring for her "chaps". For 15 years, she also passionately cared for our family pet, Tatsie.
Although she loved sitting on her front porch at home and cooking for family and close friends; she would often visit family in various cities and states to share her time and love. Wherever she visited, she wouldn't stay long. She will be fondly remembered for her famous words, "I'm ready to go."
Lillie leaves to cherish 3 children: Chenna Latta(Charles 2018), Frank Faulkner(Mary), and Lillian "Lois" Bogle(John 2003). 3 sisters: Mattie Craig(Billy 2020), Helen New(William) and Vanessa Tillman. 2 brothers: George Nivens (Sherry) and Jerry Nivens(Glendora). 3 sisters-in-law: Jesse Bailey(George 2020), Burnadette Crowder(Kelly) and Gladys Blakeney. 1 brother-in-law: Freddie Williams, Sr.(Naomi 2020). Grandchildren 17, great grandchildren 35, and great great grandchildren 5. Also, a host of Faulkner and McMillian/Nivens family members.
Lillie was affectionately known as "Num" by family members. Although she was loved by many, her special friendships were limited. She left behind her best friend of almost 50 years. Lizzie Latta.
She was preceded in death by 2 sons, baby Gary (1956) and Khenne (Randy)(2008) and 1 sister, Margaret Houston (2017).
