Mrs. Lillie Mae "Lil" Springs

Mrs. Lillie Mae Springs, age 80, was born on March 5, 1942 in Charlotte, North Carolina to the late Robert and Hattie Bell Davis. She passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at the Levine & Dickson Hospice House at Southminster.

Mrs. Springs was the eldest of 10 siblings. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert L. Davis, Jr. (Manny), Tommy Davis, Johnny Davis and Donald Davis. Lil will be lovingly remembered by her sisters Sally Ann Grier (Chuck), Sandra Long (Larry), Robin Byers, Jackie Perry (Jerome) and Reda Burch (Marvin).

Mrs. Springs graduated from Sterling High School in Pineville and at a very early age (first grade) met her lifelong partner, Mr. Herman Springs. They married February 24, 1962 and enjoyed 60 years of marital bliss. Their union resulted in four children, Latonya S. Allen "Darl", Sherman Springs, Herman Springs, III (predeceased), and Melanie Ragin. In addition to her husband and surviving children, Mrs. Springs is survived by daughters-in-law, Kim Springs, Rena Springs and sons-in-law, James Allen and Taurus Ragin. Mrs. Springs' legacy includes cherished grandchildren, Demazzeo Jeter, Santonio Springs, Arielle Billups (Bayrone), Erica Smith, Xavier Brandon, Romello Springs, Marcus Springs, Marsha Springs, Leiah Springs, Sydnee Springs, Jasmine Springs, Tauriana Ragin, Taurus Ragin, Jr. "TJ", and Devin Ragin, in addition to 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by grandson, Mario Springs.

Mrs. Springs held a variety of jobs and retired from First Union Bank (now Wells Fargo) in 1996. Her retirement years were filled with shopping, gardening, and donating to a variety of charities. Lil and Herman had the most pleasure in taking care of their home away from home in Holden Beach, North Carolina. They enjoyed watching sports, going to the beach, and fishing. She was an avid sports fan, especially of the Atlanta Braves, Duke Men's Basketball and Serena Williams. She served as a stand-in mother to many and never hesitated to feed you, listen to you, or give a kick in the pants when you needed one. She valued so many family and friends and took joy in planning special occasions and holidays.

Mrs. Springs believed that "Prayer is the road to heaven, but faith opens the door. Until God opens the next door, don't stop praising him. If God brings you to it, trust that He will see you through it. The cross made the difference for me. Let your faith be bigger than your fear."
