Ms. Lillie Winkley, 83, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Matthews Health and Rehab in Matthews, NC.

Lillie Faye (Mickey) Buck Winkley was the beloved daughter of the late William Hezekiah Buck and Berthinia Harper Buck.

Mickey had two sons, Marlon Buck (deceased) and Julius Morning (Charlotte, NC).  Mickey had one grandson, Marlon Lamone Buck and grandchildren that she cherished so much.

She had one brother and six sisters:  Ida Buck, Marie Buck and Hezekiah Buck, Jr. (deceased), Clydie Pearl Buck of New Bern, NC, Gloria Earselle Isles of Greenville, SC, Vivian Demetris Hill of Brooklyn, NC, and Jackie Curmon or Raleigh, NC, and devoted loved ones from Detroit, Joyce and her Detroit buddies, Ruby, Bonnie and Mae.

Mickey grew up and attended school in New Bern, NC until she became a devoted military wife.  She worked as a tireless nurses' aide (or LPN) until retirement.  She subsequently moved to Detroit, Michigan and stayed there until January 2022.  She moved to the Charlotte area in January 2022 to be closer to her devoted son, Julius, who became her favorite movie, shopping and adventure buddy.

Mickey was a loving, kind, generous, supporting and encouraging person.  She always loved going to the movies as a child and later, she enjoyed her weekly movie outings with her son.  A good Broadway play was also appreciated.  She enjoyed shopping, especially for jewelry, cooking for her family, traveling, and attending casinos.  Her most favorite pastime was spending time with loved ones.

We love you, Mickey.  You may be gone but never forgotten.                                            Your acts of kindness, generosity and love are legendary.
