Obituary

Lilly Louise Caldwell, 98 of Charlotte, was called to her heavenly home on Thursday, June 4, 2020.  She was born December 24, 1921, to the late David and Sadie Bradley, in Gaston County, NC.  Louise attended Gaston County Schools where she obtained her education from Reid High School in Belmont, NC.

She married Robert Lee Caldwell and was married for over 50 years and to that union eleven children were born.  In her early years, she was a member of Wilson Heights Church of God where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior.  In her later years after retiring form Pharr Yarns Inc., she worked for the Department of Social Services as a foster parent and raised and educated over 200 children.  She was full of wisdom and godly advice.  She loved to play Chinese Checkers where most times she was the winner, or she would play until she won.  She was a whiz at word puzzles.  She loved to cook and bake.  She could make a sweet potato pie that would melt in your mouth.  Her grandchildren were her pride and joy.

Dressing was an understatement.  She was very stylish, independent and supportive; you could always confide in her with any conversation.  She would always say you do your part and don't worry.  Louise loved life and the people she encountered.  She never met a stranger and would tell you to come on in, sit down and stay for a while you could guarantee you were taken care of.

In addition to her parents, Robert Lee Caldwell preceded her in death (1992) and two sons, William Lee and Robert Louis Caldwell (2019).

She leaves to cherish her loving memories six daughters, Emma Marie Johnson, Margie Jones (Edgar), Dorothy McFarland, all of Baltimore MD, Loretta Odom of Orange, New Jersey, Arwilla Nwaorgu, Denise Caldwell of Charlotte, NC; three sons, Michael Caldwell (Jan), Raymond Caldwell of Charlotte, NC and Curtis Caldwell of Atlanta, GA; two brothers-in-law, Homer Caldwell (Elaine) of Orlando, FL and Harry Caldwell (Hattie) of Houston, TX; sister-in-law, Helen Haynes of Kansas City, MO; 21 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
