Liz Thompkins Williams
January 10, 1941 – October 21, 2022
Mrs. Liz Thompkins Williams transitioned peacefully at home, Charlotte, North Carolina, Friday, October 21, 2022 at 81 years old. Liz was born January 10, 1941 in Hephzibah, Georgia to the late Bertha Mae White and Tom B. Marshall.
Liz retired after 25 years of faithful and devoted Federal Civilian Service from the United States Air Force, McChord AFB, Washington. In addition, she worked with Veteran Administration, New York; Lowry AFB, Colorado and Fitzsimons Army Medical Center, Colorado. After retirement, she worked as a Teacher's Assistant at Brookdale Elementary School and as a Family Caregiver. Also, Liz served as a community volunteer serving and working on political campaigns, voting polls, voter registration, Get Out the Vote (GOTV) campaigns, and other community events. Liz received many awards and recognitions including, Certificate of Appreciation for her volunteer service as an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Counselor, United States of the Air Force, McChord Air Force Base, Washington.
Among her many gifts and talents, Liz enjoyed shopping, music, movies, home decorating, Bible Study and Readings, gardening, traveling, family gatherings, creating delicious and unforgettable family meals, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas. Liz enjoyed spending time with family and friends and her dog and precious partner, Red. Liz was a stranger to no one and a friend to everyone. She will be forever loved and missed by family and friends.
She leaves to cherish fond memories and legacies; one Son, Bennie Thompkins, Denver, Colorado; grandchildren: Maurice Shawn Selsey, Fayetteville, North Carolina; Bennie Thompkins, III, Bryant Maven, Benita Maven, all of Denver, Colorado and two great-great grandchildren; Sisters: Rose Jenkins (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania); Minnie Marshall; Mattie B. Marshall, all of Charlotte, North Carolina and Lucille Marshall, Hephzibah, Georgia. Brothers: Tom Marshall, Jr., Sierra Vista, Arizona; Roman Marshall, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Charles Marshall (Kristi), Denver, Colorado; and Matthew Marshall (Lola), Hempstead, New York; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and relatives, and many special life-long friends, including David Sanchez. A special great, great nephew who brought joy to her life, Isaiah Manning.
She is preceded in death by her husband David A. Williams; brother, Jesse Marshall; sisters, Lucy Rhodes and Lorine Duncan and her faithful and loving dog, Prince.
